Discover a taste of Skye as Bonnie & Wild hosts Misty Isle Gin bar takeover


One of Scotland’s leading craft gins is taking over the bar at Bonnie & Wild for the whole month of May!

Starting on Monday, May 6, and following on from this weekend’s Oyster and Champagne Bar with Gary Maclean, the Misty Isle team from Isle of Skye Distillers will be transforming one of Bonnie & Wild’s bars into a welcoming corner of Skye (minus the midges of course!)

At the Misty Isle bar at Bonnie & Wild, expert mixologists will be pouring tailor-made cocktails using Misty Isle’s acclaimed craft gin and vodka. The Isle of Skye Distillers team are also planning a series of events throughout May to celebrate the activation, while bottles of Misty Isle Gin and Vodka will be available to purchase at Bonnie & Wild’s Rarity bottle shop.

Drinks being poured include Misty Isle’s signature cocktail Shepherd’s Delight, along with their Classically Aromatic Gin, Fruity & Floral Pink Gin, Salty & Sweet Gin and Pure and Smooth Vodka.

Misty Isle gins and vodka are released in limited batches and inspired by the wild and rugged beauty of the Isle of Skye. The stylish branding on each bottle represents the various peaks that make up the iconic Cuillin mountain range.

Hand-crafted using locally foraged botanicals, the award-winning Misty Isle gins, like its namesake vodka, is distilled using the spring waters from the Storr Lochs on the north-east of the Hebridean island. Released in limited batches, the Aromatic Gin has a delicate floral flavour with earthy undertones and a hint of spice and citrus, followed by a refreshing aftertaste. Misty Isle’s Fruit & Floral Gin is made with pears, blackcurrants, meadowsweet and raspberries grown in the distillery garden. The Salty and Sweet expression, meanwhile, is made using Sea Orache gathered on the shores of Loch Portree, giving it a captivating saltiness on the finish.

The Misty Isle takeover is just the latest in a series of pop-ups and takeovers at the popular Edinburgh Food Hall, curated to showcase local talent or Scottish produce. With more takeovers in the pipeline, Misty Isle’s May takeover at Bonnie & Wild follows pop-ups by National Chef Gary Maclean, Edinburgh bakeries Kilted Donuts and Chulos Stuffed Cookies, and bar takeovers by Botanist Gin and Isle of Raasay Distillery and a host of others.

Misty Isle Classically Aromatic Gin

Enjoy notes of citrus and floral juniper with an undertone of spice. Enjoy with a premium Scottish tonic and garnish with a twist of fresh orange peel to enhance the citrus taste.

Misty Isle Fruity & Floral Pink Gin

This fruity ‘Old Tom’ is full of flavour and packed with fruit including pears, blackcurrants, meadowsweet and raspberries grown in the distillery garden. Misty Isle Gin Fruity & Floral is purely pot-infused with the fruits soaked for at least a week prior to distilling, which brings out the delicate flavours. Enjoy floral notes with fruity raspberry and pear tones over a delicious juniper base.

Misty Isle Salty & Sweet gin

Misty Isle Salty & Sweet Gin showcases a perfect balance of botanicals from in and around Portree. Made using juniper, homegrown coriander seeds, angelica root, blueberries, meadowsweet stalks and sea orache are gathered from the shores of Loch Portree and the surrounding village.

Misty Isle Pure & Smooth Vodka

Misty Isle Vodka is a great example of a wheat vodka with ample depth, balance and character. On the nose is white fruit, lemon and vanilla. The palate is smooth and refined, with grainy sweetness, flavours of plum and elderflower, and a beautifully balanced finish.
