Visiting Edinburgh for the Festival and Fringe?

Visiting Edinburgh for the Festival? Whether it’s lunch, dinner or late-night drinks, Bonnie & Wild’s new Food Hall offers you the best of Scottish food and drink.

We’re delighted to see the return of both the Edinburgh Fringe and the Edinburgh International Festival, which kicked off their programmes at the weekend.

The EIF programme has more than 170 performances over the next few weeks, including classical and contemporary music, theatre, opera, dance and spoken word performances. The Fringe has a whopping 700 shows (some online) running until the end of August.

Although somewhat scaled back compared to previous years (let’s overlook 2020), it’s wonderful to again see the excitement and vibrancy these arts festivals bring.

The live performances will never be far away, however. St James Quarter is hosting a series of events as part of the Fringe, from busking and choirs to taster sessions from larger shows. These live performances will take place throughout the main galleria and in several of the external events spaces, including St James Square, just below our very own Scottish Marketplace. For anyone coming to Bonnie & Wild on the fourth floor of St James Quarter, we’ll have live music in the main galleria just outside our front doors from Thursday through to Sunday.

And where should all these visitors and performers go for lunch, dinner and after-show drinks? We have a few suggestions, echoed in The Metro and Edinburgh Live, who both recommend our fantastic Food Hall for some nourishment, refreshment and even some live entertainment!

Inside Bonnie & Wild, we offer festival-goers (and non-festival-goers) an unrivalled offering of beautiful Scottish food and liquid refreshments, served from eight independent food stalls and our three bars (open until midnight). Or, should you fancy something to cook up and wash down for later, have a look round the retail offerings from our resident butcher MacDuff 1890 and boutique bottleshop, Inverarity Mortons.

Thanks to the relaxation of Covid restrictions we can welcome guests back to the bars. While only last week it was table service only, guests at Bonnie & Wild can avoid ordering through their phones and instead head up to our bars, and chat with our bartenders as they prepare your favourite tipple.

Bonnie & Wild remains open until late, serving drinks until midnight and food until 9.45pm. Booking only for groups of eight or more. Otherwise walk-ins please.
