Find your perfect World Whisky Day dram with Bonnie & Wild

Tomorrow is World Whisky Day, and we’ll have a couple of exclusive whisky specials being served all day for our guests, alongside some exclusive bottles from the IM bottleshop. But today, we’ve lined up three big whisky fans from within Bonnie & Wild who have shared their perfect drams!

First off, recent arrival Lucky Singh, who only last week opened our newest food stall Radge Chaat along with his brother Tony. Lucky opted for the Balvenie 14yo Caribbean Cask, a cracking Speyside that was aged in oak casks before being finished in barrels that once held Caribbean rum! Lucky said: “The rich, sweet layers of this Balvenie just really do it for me. There’s smooth, honeyed sweetness in there, and of course the flavours of the rum comes through too. I love it. It’s an absolute belter of a dram.”

Inverarity Morton’s bottleshop manager Alfonso Zapater opted for the Kilchoman Sanaig, a classic Islay aged in sherry casks. Alfonso said: “This is a very special whisky, accessibly priced but also not a challenging whisky to drink, even though it has some big flavours and character like you get with most Islay whiskies. It’s made from whisky aged in both sherry and bourbon casks, and the Oloroso sherry influence really stands out, so you get the peat smoke character with all these flavours of spices and dried fruits. It’s one of my favourites for sure.”

Bonnie & Wild Barman Eoghan Curran singled out the Glengoyne. He said: “I love Glengoyne, it’s such a beautiful distillery just outside Glasgow, and the team have been over to Bonnie & Wild a few times now. The 12yo is a popular one for us at the bar as it’s such as beautiful, easy-drinking, sweet dram, with plenty of charm and character. Always makes me think of Highland toffee! It’s easy to see why it’s won a string of awards.”

All three whiskies are available from Bonnie & Wild’s bars and from the IM Bottleshop (Kilchoman Sanaig, £49.00 | Balvenie 14yo Caribbean Cask, £59.00 | Glengoyne, 12 yo £45.95).

The IM Bottleshop at Bonnie & Wild is fast becoming known as a destination in its own right. As well as the Balvenie, Kilchoman and Glengoyne, it also has some very exclusive and rare whiskies from across Scotland.

And tomorrow, for World Whisky Day, bar manager Eduardo Martinez Caro has put on a couple of exclusive whisky cocktails!
