Why working at Bonnie & Wild could help kickstart your career

A massive congratulations and ae fond farewell to two popular and well-kent Bonnie & Wild faces who have left us recently.

We’re proud (and a wee bit sad) to announce that our brilliant Bar Supervisor Harry Smith and Host Kat O’Driscoll are both taking on amazing new jobs, thanks in part to their time at Bonnie & Wild.

Whether it’s the guests who come in through our doors, the chefs who create the many mouth-watering menus, or the floor staff who ensure every visitor enjoys a first-class customer experience, we strive to make Bonnie & Wild a people-focused business.

Which is why we’re delighted when our employees take a big step onwards and upwards.

After year-long stints at Bonnie & Wild, Kat and Harry have secured jobs with Raasay Distillery and a leading hotel on the Isle of Harris.

They know – because they’ve enjoyed it first hand – that Bonnie & Wild strives to deliver a first-class customer experience, and that we put a lot of effort in to train, develop and reward our staff. We do this through comprehensive and in-depth training programmes, competitive pay and other bonuses, plus benefits such as employee of the month, generous staff discounts, and access to exciting events and other incentives.

Such is our commitment to our staff, and to ensuring their training and development, that it does mean we sometimes lose them to other businesses!

Of course, with graduating students starting their careers in law, medicine, education, and so on, that’s always to be expected, but we’re always particularly proud to see B&W staff develop and build their career within the hospitality sector.

Raasay Distillery's held a series of events at B&W, with Kat and Harry both getting the opportunity to shine at these functions, while also demonstrating their brilliant skills, experience and driven personalities. Thanks in part to the training and support they received at B&W, they were able to wow the interview panel with their professionalism and knowledge of Scotland's food and drink industry.

“I’ve loved my time at Bonnie & Wild. I’ve made some great friends, had tonnes of fun and laughs. But right from the start there’s been a professional side too. The managers have organised things like whisky tastings and wine training sessions so you can learn about all sorts of things about hospitality and food and drink, from cocktail making to health and safety. They’ve been super supportive of me taking this next step as a Brand Ambassador at Raasay Distillery. I’m really going to miss the team … and the lunches!”

Kat O’Driscoll,

“I joined Bonnie & Wild as a part-time barman while I was at university, then was promoted to Bar Supervisor. It’s always been a good place to work, with plenty going on and plenty of places to eat to choose from. Having access to drink training from experts and ambassadors from breweries and distilleries across Scotland has been a real highlight, and something I could point to during my recent job interviews. I’ll be sorry to say goodbye!”

Harry Smith,

“We expect great things of them both! They’ve done brilliantly. And while I'm sorry to see them go, I'm delighted for them both. We’re all a wee bit proud that the training they received at Bonnie & Wild has helped them secure these exciting new jobs. Of course, it now means I've a couple more jobs to fill!"
